This is just kind of a random post, but maybe some people will find it interesting.

For probably the last few years, I have been trying to convince my small circle friends that they needed to sign up for birthday reminders online because sooner or later, they would forget. Then I would tell them I told you so and they would have no excuse to refute it. They would tell me that Facebook was enough, or any other number of reasons why they shouldn't do it.

It was my birthday last month and I was curious who would remember. My friends are good about not forgetting birthdays, so if one of them forgot, I would know about it. When the day rolled around, two of them who I had encouraged to get reminders were the ones who forgot. I don't take it personally because I'm relaxed, but I thought it was funny still. The next time I saw them I gently reminded them about it and they got these sheepish looks on their faces. They knew they had forgot.

One of them asked me to show him on my phone how the reminders worked, and it looks he's going to actually sign up. It's not that big of a deal, but I just think these birthday reminders have served me so well, they could do the same for my friends.
